Can music make you smarter?

Ever noticed that the kids that play in band get better grades than most of their other classmates? Of course there are some exceptions to this rule. Do you think that music could have something to do with this phenomena? Or is it perhaps the skills you learn in band? Or is it something else? What do you think?

Have you ever gone to a movie and been blown away by the soundtrack and music? Some composers like John Williams have made a career out of writing awe-inspiring music for movies such as Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Indiana Jones. But there are many movies that have cool music. In our first topic on this debut band blog, I'd like to ask you what type of music you listen to at home. Who's on your ipod? What musicians inspire you?
