Can music make you smarter?

Ever noticed that the kids that play in band get better grades than most of their other classmates? Of course there are some exceptions to this rule. Do you think that music could have something to do with this phenomena? Or is it perhaps the skills you learn in band? Or is it something else? What do you think?

Heard any good movies lately?

Have you ever gone to a movie and been blown away by the soundtrack and music? Some composers like John Williams have made a career out of writing awe-inspiring music for movies such as Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Indiana Jones. But there are many movies that have cool music. What has caught your ear lately?

What do you want to be when you grow up?

A large purpose of this blog is to get a chance to meet the band students and learn more about you outside of school. So feel free to express yourself! If you could get paid to do something that you love, what would that be?

What type of music do you listen to at home?

In our first topic on this debut band blog, I'd like to ask you what type of music you listen to at home. Who's on your ipod? What musicians inspire you? Have you seen any live concerts that you would recommend to others? Start the dialogue off with your thoughts on the subject.
